Garmisch-Partenkirchen Ski Resort Review.

Skiing Garmisch Partenkirchen Classic Ski Area.

Three ski mountains – Hausberg, Kreuzeck und Alpspitze – are joined together in the Garmisch-Classic ski area. 40 kilometers (25 miles) of pistes at an altitude of 700 to 2,050 meters (2,297 to 6,725 feet),

The Huasberg Kreuzeck Ski Area.

The Huasberg Kreuzeck Area, is directly above the town and is reached by taking two gondolas, starting a few km from the edge of the resort.

These lower lifts have decent vertical ascents and serve the long runs back down. The higher lifts and pistes are all much shorter.

The higher Alpspitz area can be reached from the Huasberg Kreuzeck Area via a narrow path and tow rope, or by skiing down to the Alpspitz cable car.

The Zugspitze Glacier.

The Zugspitze Glacier can be reached either by taking the railway from the resort which reaches the ‘Classic’ ski area lift bases. Or by taking the cable car from Eibsee which climbs to the top of the Zugspitze, from there take another cable car down to the ski slopes.

22km (15 miles) of pistes. Above the main lifts are a series a typical ‘glacier blues pistes’ served by a number of drag lifts. Below there is a selection of good red pistes and some good off-piste areas.

When conditions permit, there is Riffelriss ski run into the valley.
