Ski Fitness Exercises | Heel Up Walking.

On the Snow, ski fitness

Her Feet Flyin’ Up in the Air.

pop quiz: the lyric above is from what song and artist? clue: arguably the single that created a whole new music genre in the 80s – rap rock.

On the Snow has teamed up with US Ski Team members to create a series of videos to show us ‘mortals’ a thing or two about ski fitness. I’m not sure why, but they call this one ‘Heel Up Walking’.

Don’t forget you are not supposed to find Heel up walking easy. It looks to me like it’s ‘Toes Up Walking’, but what do I know! This is great one for a ski resort like Zermatt. Here there are no cars and you have to walk everywhere.

If you are going to get the best out of every day you are able to ski, the best advice is to be in the best shape you can be, before you go. I have never heard anyone on ski slopes saying; “I wish I hadn’t done as much work on my fitness”, have you?

There are really no excuses for avoiding heel up walking. You don’t need any equipment and don’t even need to set time aside to do it. Simply walk this way down the corridors at work, when shopping on the high street, when you take the dog out or the kids to school.

If you ‘enjoyed’ this try others in the series listed under my Two Minute Tone Up tag.

pop trivia: Aerosmith gave us “Her feet flyin’ up in the air” a line from their 1977 single ‘Walk This Way’, covered in 1986 by Run DMC.
