Brides Les Bains Ski Resort Review

Established in 1848 the French Spa Town of Brides Les Bains is located in the valley below The Three Valleys ski resorts. A 30 min journey using the ‘Olympic’ cable car to access Meribel, followed by a shortish walk gives access to the slopes and snow of the Three Valleys.

Although not as lively as Meribel, it has bars, a casino and nightclub. The town is also good for non-skiers as its lower altitude means that any of the several picturesque walks that surround Brides are accessible practically the whole year round.

An ideal destination for the small budget. What you miss out on is – usually – snow at village level, mountain ambience and nightlife.

Good to know As a spa town and the slimming centre of France, Brides Les Bains is known for its weight loss treatments and tailor-made healthy eating programmes. New spa facilities now also offer Ayurvedic and oriental massages.

Prices in Brides-Les-Bains tend to be slightly lower than more popular regions such as the Espace-Killy region and Val Thorens and the restaurants are both good quality and value for money. Equipment hire is readily available, as are ski and snowboard instructors.

Probably the best thing about visiting Brides-Les-Bains is the stark contrast of its setting with the more popular and busier regions. When you’ve skied all day you can relax amongst the beautiful surroundings and indulge in its peace and tranquillity, an impossible feat in the hustle and bustle of Val D’Isere. Brides-Les-Bains is ideal if you like to wind down as much as you like to ski down and if you do then you’ll be duly impressed.
