Cortina d’Ampezzo ski resort is included in the Dolomiti Superski pass. Covering a vast expanse of the Dolomites across the northern Italian Alps, often bathed in sunshine, Cortina d’Ampezzo has much to recommend it.

Virtually every skier is a fan of pizza, pasta, cold beer and aperol. So, a skiing holiday in Cortina d’Ampezzo in Italy, the authentic home of pizza, pasta, cold beer and aperol, might feel like a culinary journey rather than a ski trip.

Cortina d’Ampezzo ski resort town is at an altitude of 1,224m and is almost surrounded by 3,000m peaks; Le Tofane, Cristallo, and Soraphis as well as Pomagagon, Croda da Lago, Averau and the Cinque Torri. However, this does result in the ski areas being rather spread out, which in turn means a reliance of ski buses. Each day skiers must deliberate which of the region’s ski slopes to visit.

All but the most ‘serious’ and dedicated skiers and boarders will usually head for the sunniest lunch spots as early as possible. For the serious and dedicated, this can leave the slopes free for large portions of the morning. After lunch there is a similar situation, since the apres ski in Cortina d’Ampezzo ski resort starts early. Indeed, a considerable portion of visitors rarely bother to ski at all.

Cortina D’Ampezzo is one of the Best Ski Resorts for:
