Behind closed doors in Lusanne, Switzerland the Winter Olympic Committee met at the end of June 2026. They decided to include freeride skiing and freeride snowboarding, as well as synchronised figure skating, to the schedule of the 2030 Winter Olympics.

Fans of the Freeride World Tour and X-Games will be familiar with freeride competitions. Think acrobatics on skis/boards whilst navigating your own way down a steep snowy, rock face.

Synchronised figure skating will see teams of nine skaters perform in unison across a rink.

Specific criteria for qualification and the location each competition are yet to be announced. What we do know is that the 26th Winter Olympics will be held in the French Alps between the 1st and 17th February 2030.

Ceremonies and indoor events are to be held in Lyon, whilst the Haute-Savoie and the Rhone-Alpes will host the outdoor competitions.

The French Alps are one of the most popular ski destinations in the World and February is peak-season. If you want to ski in 2030, you best book now!
