Face to Face. And Dream of Flying.

pop quiz: the lyric above is from what song and artist? clue: perhaps this lady’s band, wailing about a bat and a cat, was for Warren.

A year ago, the man responsible for the vast majority of the ski films that we love and are scared by in equal measure, Warren Miller, died. This year’s ski film is called ‘Face of Winter’ and, if you are lucky, you can see it on UK cinema screens across this month.

The ski film crews have covered the globe looking for great skiing.

Hence, the result is a series of films and recording which are fitting tributes to Warren’s life.

They visited – Mount Baker, Washington; Switzerland, Rossland, British Columbia; Cordova, Alaska; Tordrillo, Alaska; Chamonix, France; Iceland; Chile; New Zealand; Blue River, British Columbia.

If I come across any other ski film events, you can be sure to find details here.

pop trivia: the lyric is from ‘Face to Face’ by ‘Siouxsie and the Banshees’ from the 1992 film ‘Batman Returns’. A ‘banshee’ is an Irish spirit who wails to announce death. ‘Batman Returns’ featured ‘Batman’ and ‘Catwoman’.
