Discovering Santa on a Skiing Day Out in Oetz.
Oh, ho, ho it’s Magic
Pop trivia clue: the lyric above is from the only hit in the 70s by a band who are found at the controls of an airline
Having the Snowcard Tirol season means we can venture further West for our skiing day trips. We decided on a three day ski trip.
- Day 1: Kuhtai and Oetz
- Day 2: Obergurgl and Hochgurgl
- Day 3: Soelden
Skiing Day Out in Oetz
Oetz is a lovely village that, we read, is even nicer in the summer; can’t believe that ourselves as there would be no skiing!
It is a low lying resort that will suffer in low-snow years and a short season when the sun shines, but on our day it was lovely.
The runs are varied; undulating, non-direct and down among the tree line. There is an easy fun park with obstacles to practise on; Santa was there on the day we went!

The crowds were non-existent, the lift infrastructure is a little dated (ie. slow) and the whole ski resort is not very big, but there is plenty to enjoy.
pop trivia: Pilot, those ex-Bay City Rollers from Scotland gave us Magic, a hit in 1975, their only hit!
