Orelle Ski Resort Review

The ski resort of Orelle is situated in the Maurienne area of the Savoy in the French Alps and is part of the massive Three Valleys Ski Resort.

The lift served area extends from 1800 metres to 3230 metres. There are 600 km of lift served runs including The Three Valley Ski Region.

Orelle is a backway into the Val Thorens Ski Resort, but challenging runs have developed on the Orele side of the mountain in the Cime de Carron area. It also features some excellent off-piste. The resort has 3.2km of artificial snow, making using 44 canons.

Getting there by air

Chambéry airport – 90 km, Lyon Saint-Exupéry airport – 190 km, Turin airport – 110 km. Chambéry Airport is the closest airport to the resort. However, Chambéry is susceptible to bad weather, and it can often be closed with flights frequently being diverted to Lyon or Grenoble airport. Geneva, Lyon and Grenoble are the other airports close by at a distance of 180kms, 220km and 210kms respectively.

Getting there by train

Railway station in Saint Michel de Maurienne. Saint-Michel-de-Maurienne is 4h30 from Paris, via TGV to Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne, then train to Saint-Michel-de-Maurienne. Connection Saint-Michel-de-Maurienne – Orelle (7 km) by taxi.

A43 motorway or RN6 to St Michel de Maurienne, then RN6 to Orelle.
